This Discman model was a development of the D-100. It included an AM/FM stereo radio built into the lid, making the machine slightly larger but far more useful. As well as offering a greater choice of listening, the radio used much less power than the compact disc player and therefore offered a much greater listening time when used with batteries. The integration of the radio was very well executed. Some Discman radio conversions were unconvincing, with largely self-contained radios using mechanical tuning mechanisms. The D-T100 fully integrated the radio into the operation of the main machine, using the compact disc time display as a digital tuning readout and the track skip buttons as tuning controls. Such attention to detail made the D-T100 one of the best radio/compact disc combinations. Text copyright © Walkman Central. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
