Although this model was styled to look like a miniature cassette player, it was in fact just a radio. It offered full coverage of the MW and FM bands and included a stereo decoder for suitable FM broadcasts. The tuning dial was placed along the top of the case, with the tuning being controlled by a thumbwheel. A similar thumbwheel set the volume. To aid accurate tuning, an LED tuning indicator was fitted. Text copyright © Walkman Central. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
Unusually for a Walkman radio, the SRF-35W had a built-in three band graphic equaliser. This could be used to compensate some way for the rather basic headphones that were supplied. The SRF-35W worked with headphones only, there was no loudspeaker. The headphone lead acted as an antenna on FM. Text copyright © Walkman Central. Unauthorised reproduction prohibited.
